Purple Today

I replace a purple towel for a different purple towel / I was twelve the first time I met a poet / It was the
only good thing that happened in middle school / I won’t write poetry until two years later / I won’t
respect writing poetry for another two years / I’ll think of her every time I don’t know something / I
thought my body would feel different the day I turned twenty / I was disappointed when I woke up /
It was almost like nothing changed / The sink is yellow today / In winter my hands bleed like
strawberries in summer / My mom bought me a basket of hand lotion / I still smell the beige vanilla
bean bottle / I go to the train to go to a cafe to go to a girl / A girl I’ve already decided I won’t see again / She’s already decided the same thing / I learn someone can go twenty eight years without knowing
you’re supposed to kiss with your eyes closed / I replace a purple towel for a different purple towel
